Faculty Requests for Book Purchases: We
are happy to receive your suggestions for our collection.
We depend on your expertise in your subject area to make our
collection as comprehensive as possible. And, here at the
library, you will be held in the highest esteem if you remember
to check our catalog before you request a title.
Here's how to order books and multimedia for the
library: Orders may be sent to the Acquisitions
Department via our online purchase request form found here.
If you do not wish to use the online form, Book Order Cards
are available at the Reference Desk or from the Acquisitions
Department in the offices on the Lower Level. Call or email the Acquisitions department if you would like to
have book order cards sent to you through Campus Mail. Or,
send your orders via e-mail to our Acquisitions Librarian, Susan Decker-Herman at herman@bard.edu. Please include as much information about the item(s) as
possible (available from Books
in Print, WorldCat,
or Amazon.com) so that
the order can be placed as quickly as possible. It can take
as much as four months from the time an in-print book is
ordered until it reaches the shelves. Susan can also be reached at ext 7617, please call her if
you have further questions.
If you would like
to request items to be put on reserve for a course, please
use the Reserves Purchase Request Form found here and direct your questions to Melissa Germano, the Reserves
Associate, at mgermano@bard.edu.
Faculty Requests For Journal Subscriptions: Requests
for new journal subscriptions from faculty, staff, and students
are reviewed any time of the year. New titles are purchased
in May, at the time of our annual subscription renewal. Our
review of these requests typically involves several factors:
likelihood of regular undergraduate use; availability of indexing;
adequacy of existing collection coverage; reach of content
across the curriculum; and, because we can never afford everything
we need, price.
Requests for new subscriptions should be sent to the Collection
Development Librarian, Jane Dougall, in Room 102, Stevenson
Library, or via email at dougall@bard.edu. |
