Wrote and directed two multimedia plays, staged in Italy and Spain (1994–95) and Boston (2004–05). Recipient, Dissertation Fellowship, Boston College (2007–08). (2009– ) Visiting Assistant Professor of Italian and Spanish.

Actor and director. With Mexican artist Sigfrido Aguilar, created and performed The Alamo Piece in Mexico, Texas, and Virginia (2000–02). Lead role in Noddy & Friends, produced by BBC for PBS, New York City and Toronto (1996, 1999). Director, Woza Albert!, Lincoln Center Institute (1998); has also directed productions of Love of Three Oranges, Serpent Woman, Waiting for Godot. Has performed at Intar Hispanic American Theatre, Lincoln Center, Old Globe Theatre, and on tour in France, Germany, and throughout the United States. Teaches acting at Tisch School of the Arts, New York University (1999– ), Michael Howard Studios (1997– ). Awards include National Endowment for the Arts and New York Foundation for the Arts fellowships, Mexican American Cultural Foundation and Arts International Fund grants. (2004– ) Visiting Instructor of Theater.

B.A., Princeton University; M.A., Ph.D., University of Michigan. Areas of interest include youth, urban and spatial theory, gender and feminism, and ethnographic representation. Field research in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Awards from German Marshall Fund of the United States, Wenner-Gren Foundation, National Science Foundation. Has taught at the University of Michigan and Bard College at Simon’s Rock: The Early College. (2005–08; 2009– ) Visiting Assistant Professor of Anthropology.
