Biography:Photographer. Taught at Yale School of Fine Art, Cooper Union, Lafayette College, New York University, Lehigh University. One-person shows at Museum of Modern Art (1979); Les Rencontres de Photographie, Arles, France (1993); Musï¿½e de lï¿½Elysï¿½e, Lausanne, Switzerland (1994); Musï¿½e de la Photographie, Charleroi, Belgium (1997); Whitney Museum of American Art (1997). Books include Social Graces (Aperture, 1984; reprinted by PowerHouse, 2000); Boxing (Powerhouse, 1997); Fish and Wine (Lafayette College, 1997); Runway (PowerHouse, 2000); Contact 55 (Phaidon Press, 2004). Awards and fellowships: Honorary Doctorate, College for Creative Studies, College of Art and Design, Detroit (2002); Individual Photography Fellowship, National Endowment for the Arts (1978, 1986); Guggenheim Fellowships (1976, 1979). Photographs have appeared in New York Times, Time-Life Books, Vanity Fair, Life, The New Yorker, other publications. At Bard since 1988.
