Biography:
Geoffrey Sobelle is an award-winning performer, director, and creator of original theater. He is a member of the Pig Iron Theater Company, which was awarded an Obie in 2005 for Hell Meets Henry Halfway. His production of machines machines machines machines machines machines machines won a 2010 Obie Award for design. Other honors include a 2005 Innovative Theatre Award for best performance art piece, all wear bowlers, which also received a Drama Desk Award nomination; and Barrymore Award nominations for best supporting actor and best choreography. He has also been awarded grants and fellowships from the New England Foundation for the Arts, Creative Capital, Pew Center for Arts and Heritage, and Philadelphia Theatre Initiative, among others. He is coartistic director of the absurdist theater group rainpan 43, which has toured extensively around the world and whose productions include, in addition to all wear bowlers, Elephant Room and Amnesia Curiosa.
