B.A., M.A., Ph.D., Liszt Academy, Budapest; additional studies at Erasmus Collegium, Budapest; and Conservatoire Nationale Supérieur de Musique, Paris. Gergely Fazekas teaches in the musicology department at the Liszt Academy and serves as artistic director of the Academy’s youth programs. His courses have covered J. S. Bach, Debussy and his time, music criticism, the history of Hungarian music, and postmodern musicology. He is the editor-in-chief of the music publishing house Rózsavölgyi & Co., and managing editor of the Liszt Academy’s Concert Magazine. His scholarly publications include papers in Understanding Bach and Magyar Zene; he has also written articles for various Hungarian journals, websites, and radio problems, as well as concert and recording reviews (mostly classical, some jazz), musician portraits, program notes for concerts and opera productions, and interviews with music scholars and performers.
