Biography:

B.A., Oberlin College; M.A., Ph.D. candidate, New York University. Areas of specialization: Middle Eastern and Islamic studies, Near East studies, African American studies, and women’s studies. He taught previously at Rutgers University and New York University. Honors received include the Fulbright IIE Fellowship (to Israel) and numerous other travel and research grants. He has served as book review editor at Arab Studies Journal; Middle East consultant on The Verso Book of Dissent (Verso Press, 2010); and invited speaker, moderator, and organizer of conferences, panels, and other events dealing with issues of Middle Eastern history and social and political movements. At Bard since 2012.
