Biography:

B.A., University of Pennsylvania; M.A., Ohio State University; M.A., Ph.D., art and architectural history, University of Virginia. She is the recipient of many awards and honors, including grants from the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art and Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, an exchange fellowship at Humboldt University in Berlin, and a presidential fellowship at the University of Virginia Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Her publications include Grove Encyclopedia of Medieval Art and Architecture, Encyclopedia of Medieval Pilgrimage, and the online journal Arts & Opinions (forthcoming). She previously taught at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, University of Virginia, and Ohio State University. At Bard since 2012.
