B.S., University of Arizona; M.S., Indiana University; Ph.D., environmental engineering, University of Wisconsin–Madison. Postdoctoral associate at Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies, Millbrook, New York. Has published (as Emily L. Kara) in
ISME Journal, Environmental Modelling & Software, Bulletin of the Ecological Society of America, Aquatic Sciences, and
Applied and Environmental Microbiology, among others. Member of Water Environment Federation, American Society for Limnology and Oceanography, Ecological Society of America, and Global Lake Ecological Observatory Network. At Bard since 2013.
