Biography:

B.A., Harvard University; M.F.A., California Institute of the Arts. Selected screenings and broadcasts include: MANAKAMANA (codirector with Stephanie Spray, camera, editor), presented at the New York Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, Locarno Film Festival, DocLisboa, AFI Fest in Los Angeles, and Torino Film Festival; Skinningrove (camera), screened at Sundance and the 2012 Viennale; Far from Afghanistan (coeditor), screened at MoMA Documentary Fortnight, Toronto International Film Festival, and Locarno Film Festival; and Bastards of Utopia (director, camera, editor), shown at film festivals in Germany, Estonia, Sweden, Romania, Croatia, and in various cities across the United States. Honors received include Golden Leopard grand prize and special mention for best first feature, Locarno Film Festival; Harvard Film Study Center Fellowship; Jury Prize, International Anthropology Film Festival; Certificate of Distinction in Teaching, Harvard University; and Jacob K. Javits Fellowship, U.S. Department of Education. He is also the recipient of numerous grants from Panavision, California Institute of the Arts, S. Daniel Abraham Foundation, Carr Foundation, and O’Reilly Foundation, among others. Has previously taught at Harvard and California Institute for the Arts. At Bard: 2014–15.
