Christopher was an economics major at Bard. Originally hailing from McLean, Virginia, his academic and professional work has brought him to London, New Orleans, Budapest, and now California.
Ian graduated from Bard High School Early College before coming to Bard College. He majored in philosophy and psychology, and now teaches at Brooklyn College while pursuing graduate study.
Genya majored in Russian and Eurasian studies and human rights at Bard, with a senior project on the Russian government's response to the HIV epidemic. Her passion for public health has led her to pursue graduate work in the field.
Alanna has applied her Bard studies in the sciences and public health to advocating for people affected by HIV. She has worked with government agencies, international health organizations, and local groups in order to make a difference.
Elias, a High Falls, N.Y. native, always knew he wanted to be a writer. Studying literature at Bard connected him with some of the top talents in his field and took his writing to the next level.
Rushaine grew up in Jamaica and moved to Brooklyn at the age of 14. A Bard High School Early College graduate, she went on to pursue political studies at Bard and is now doing graduate work in Switzerland—on a full scholarship.
Sofia, a studio arts major, hails from Cabot, Vermont. Her Senior Project was an architectural sculpture, to be used as a surface for an installation of video and sound that creates an intermediate space between private and public, or interior and exterior.
Matthew transferred to Bard from Bard College at Simon’s Rock. He was a literature major and a musician; concertmaster of the orchestra at Simon’s Rock, he played fiddle for student-run contra dances at Bard.
Rachit, from Kathmandu, Nepal, is a biology and chemistry major. He received University of New South Wales gold medals in science and mathematics while in high school, and completed an internship at Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard as part of a project to make a library of 8,000 compounds.
Jananie is a dual major in biology and religion, a member of Bard Emergency Medical Services, and a peer counselor. She investigated zebrafish in the Bard Summer Research Institute, and interned at the Fulbright Commission in her native Colombo, Sri Lanka, advising students on studying in the U.S.
Kyle, a native of Austin, Texas, is a sociology major and student assistant to the associate dean of student affairs/director of multicultural affairs. He is a cofounder of the Multiracial Students Colloquium, participates in the Neighborhood for Social Activism in the Village residence halls, and is part of the campus-wide Media and Difference Project.
Thea majored in literature with a concentration in human rights. She came to Bard planning to study creative writing and international relations or Latin American studies. “I didn’t have the vocabulary for human rights,” she says. “I discovered it here. At Bard literature can be a path to human rights, and human rights can be a way of framing literature.”
Alina Marinova is from Plovdiv, Bulgaria. At Bard, she had a double concentration in mathematics and economics. She also studied dance and performed in a number of concerts at the College. Since graduating, she has completed her master's degree and started a career in economic consulting.
Nsikan was born and raised in Woodstock, Georgia. He arrived at Bard with an associate of arts degree from Bard College at Simon’s Rock. Nsikan took advantage of Bard’s opportunities for scientific research, and his work in neurobiology continues in a Ph.D. program at Columbia University.
