ESL Internship at Bard Smolny

Open to all program alumni/ae

The Institute for International Liberal Education at Bard College and the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences (Smolny College) seek a former Bard-Smolny participant to join us for the summer and academic school year for a unique opportunity. This  position consists of two distinct parts: in August, the ESL intern will come to Bard’s campus in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, to assist with the four-week Bard English Summer Language Intensive (BESLI) program for Smolny students, then in September, she/he will fly to St. Petersburg to provide ESL assistance for the Smolny academic year.

Through the Fulbright-National Geographic Digital Storytelling Fellowship, Fulbrighters will undertake an in-depth examination of a globally relevant issue, comparing and contrasting how that issue is experienced across borders. Utilizing a variety of digital storytelling tools, including text, photography, video, audio, graphic illustrations, and/or social media, Fellows will tell their stories, or the stories of those they meet, publishing their work on a a dedicated blog hosted on the National Geographic.The Stanford U.S.-Russia Forum is dedicated to bringing students at leading Russian and American universities together for research in public policy, business, economics and many other disciplines. Each year twenty American and twenty Russian students are selected for the program, which begins with a fall conference in Moscow followed by eight months of work on collaborative research projects and a capstone conference in the spring at Stanford University.

Fulbright Program 
The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides grants for individually designed study/research projects or for English Teaching Assistant Programs.  The program facilitates cultural exchange through direct interaction on an individual basis in the classroom, field, home, and in routine tasks, allowing the grantee to gain an appreciation of others’ viewpoints and beliefs, the way they do things, and the way they think.
