Life on Campus

Studying at Bard College Berlin is a genuinely international experience. With 40 nationalities and nearly as many languages represented in the student body, students are continually learning intercultural communication—in the dorms, over shared meals, or while exploring Berlin. Students leave Bard College Berlin with a network of friends around the world.

Our Campus

Housed in former embassy buildings in Pankow, a residential neighborhood in what was East Berlin, Bard College Berlin’s location offers a unique historical perspective on life in the reunified capital. It is far enough from the bustle of the city center that you can concentrate on your work without distraction, and close enough that an impromptu movie or favorite café is always within reach. An excellent public transport system—with a dense network of subways, buses, trams, and trains—means that the next station is never more than a short walk away.

Cafeteria and Dining

The Bard College Berlin cafeteria, run by the school’s chef Stefan Will, serves three meals a day to students as part of their room and board package. Students and faculty alike rave about the meals, which include gourmet versions of classic German dishes as well as other cuisines, and always contain a vegetarian option. Students are also encouraged to take advantage of the excellent culinary scene in Berlin. Further, between Bard College Berlin and downtown Berlin is Pankow center, with a variety of restaurants and cafés.

Fitness Facilities

Bard College Berlin students, faculty, and staff have free access to the SPOK Fitness Centre, which is located at Nordendstrasse 56, about 15 minutes walking distance from the student houses. All fitness activities except tennis lessons are free of charge. Our gymnasium and fitness facilities offer a gym with exercise machines, fitness classes, tennis, badminton, a soccer field, a running track, basketball, volleyball, and a sauna.
