SLOW WALK 13
Early 1980s band with Mark Kirby (vocals and percussion), Marc Dale (bass), Bruce Huber (guitars), and Margot Day (vocals). Slow Walk 13 seemed to thrive on alienating their audience. Art Carlson remembers Slow Walk 13 as a: "Goth type metal band. Awful, everyone hated them. Margot shrieked at the audience. Marc performed with a veil over his face so no one knew who he was. They opened for the Beastie Boys, perhaps at Preston or Sottery" [from telephone interview 2008].
I don't know why people hated this band. Margo shrieked but sang great in rehearsal. "Desire" sounds great to me now. Another case of me in a band that was ahead of its time. If we came out in the late '90's we'd have been famous. This song is cool and shows potential. Art is so wrong, except for the shriek part.
I wish there was some way to let the members of Slow Walk 13 that there are a good number of people at Bard right now that have heard their stuff and like it! Given they only have access to two tracks...are there any more recordings?!
