Design History at the BGC

Design history is the study of objects and ideas, including discourses of production, consumption, exchange, presentation, memory, and use. It encompasses goods that are both serially manufactured and handmade, and things created for public and/or private contexts. Design History is not bound by chronology, geography or methodological approach, and overlaps significantly with related areas of inquiry, such as material culture studies and the history of decorative or applied arts.
