Bard High School Early College II, a new school created by Bard College and the New York City Department of Education, invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Arts Division beginning Fall 2008. We seek a teacher and artist deeply committed to the field and creative in engaging students at both the college and high school levels with its delights and challenges. The person should also be an organized, effective manager able to serve as Arts Coordinator, developing and overseeing the Arts program and supervising part time arts professionals

The first Bard High School Early College, named the Outstanding Public High School in New York City by the Blackboard Awards 2007, is a national model for the education of adolescents, enabling talented and highly motivated students to move in four years from the ninth grade through the first two years of college, earning an Associate in Arts degree from Bard College, as well as a New York State Regents Diploma. BHSEC II will bring the same model to Queens.

The successful applicant will be an innovative teacher, skilled in fostering the talents of a diverse student body, encouraging students to develop new creative outlets. All BHSEC faculty participate actively in the life of the school, advising students, serving on committees, or sponsoring extracurricular activities. Ph.D. or MFA and college teaching experience strongly preferred; high school teaching experience desirable.
