Bard Music Festival of the Hamptons - July 12-22, 2007

About the Festival

The Festival was founded in 1995 by Eleanor Sage Leonard and renowned composer and conductor Lukas Foss to establish a permanent musical entity on the East End of Long Island. We strive to reach a multicultural audience of young and old, and to bring them the exciting gifts of classical composers such as Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, and Schubert as well as the wealth of twentieth-century music through the interpretations of an extraordinary array of celebrated soloists and the best young musicians of today. In joining forces with the Bard Music Festival, we will present a series of thematically organized concerts of chamber and orchestral music as well as continue the tradition of the beloved Family Concerts and the Moiseiwitsch Recital Series.

The Festival is dedicated to the memory of legendary pianist Benno Moiseiwitsch, great-uncle of Festival president Ms. Leonard. She credits him with her love of music and her desire to instill that same love and respect in others.
