Student Life

Students live in Bard Hall, a recently renovated 11-story building near the Lincoln Center district, only two blocks from Columbus Circle and Central Park. Bard Hall serves primarily as a dormitory for The Bard Graduate Center for Studies in the Decorative Arts, Design, and Culture (BGC). Students in Bard’s Globalization and International Affairs Program also live in Bard Hall and share housing with BRSS students. Bard Hall is equipped with 24-hour security, conference and study rooms, laundry facilities, and a workout room with treadmills and weights.

  • Each student shares a room with another BGIA or BRSS student. Two adjoining rooms make an apartment with a common kitchen and bathroom.
  • There are no common dining facilities in the building; students prepare their own meals in the kitchens in their apartments.
  • All rooms are wired for high speed internet access. They are also cable-ready. Cable hookup is available for those who bring their own television and who would like to subscribe to the cable service.
  • The Deputy Director of the BGIA program lives in the building. With the help of the BRSS Program Coordinator, he is available to respond to students’ day-to-day needs.

Rockefeller University

Students in the BRSS program also have access to the facilities and resources of Rockefeller University, located on the east side of Manhattan. Among their state-of-the-art facilities is an extensive scientific library.
