International Center of Photography–Bard Program in Advanced Photographic Studies

The International Center of Photography–Bard Program in Advanced Photographic Studies (ICP), founded in 2003, awards an M.F.A. degree in photography in collaboration with the Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts (see below). The two-year program, which is based at the ICP facilities in Manhattan, requires a scrupulous exploration of all aspects of photography through an integrated curriculum of studio practice, critical study, seminars, resident artist projects, and professional practice consisting of internships with leading professional photographers and photography organizations. The curriculum makes full use of the resources of ICP’s curatorial team and museum collection. With faculty from Bard and ICP, the program offers students guidance from some of the most accomplished professionals at work today. The goal is to equip aspiring photographers with the critical and professional skills necessary to succeed in all aspects of the field.
