contenedor – y futuros? speculates on Cuba’s possible futurities amidst an era of flux by reflecting upon the repercussions of past cultural and political events. The fourth and final program discusses emerging socio-political changes in the arts and the role of digital culture as an alternative method to contextualize the island’s shifting landscapes. This program features conversations with artist Tania Bruguera and professor Ted Henkens. 

los contenedores (no) son mejores vacios is an online radio program in four parts, which broadcasts music that has been impacted, in content and circulation, by the political history of the Cuban Revolution as well as the contemporary repercussions of its regime. Via the transmission of playlists and interviews, modes of popular music exist as a critical means to explore the potential futurities of Cuba amidst an uncertain political, economical, and social present.

All the programs in los contenedores (no) son mejores vacios can be accessed via Bard College’s WXBC (http://wxbc.bard.edu) and is archived on contenedoresnoson.net. To accompany the radio program, a listening space will be hosted at the Center for Curatorial Studies’ Hessel Museum of Art. All programs will be broadcasted live from the space on each individual airdate.
