Split: Women in Dislocation includes works by
Mona Hatoum, Stefana McClure, Senam Okudzeto, Fiona Tan, and
Danwen Xing. The title refers
to the division of identity and locality that occurs when an
individual is situated between two or more cultures and places.
Through the use of autobiography, the exhibition presents the
artists' reaction to their geographical and cultural dislocation.
In addition to Split: Women in Dislocation,
the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College will also present
five
other exhibitions
curated by students
in the
Center's
graduate program in curatorial studies and contemporary art.
