Bard In the News

The Institute of International Education and the Fulbright Program’s sponsor, the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, sent its congratulations today on the announcement that Bard College is one of this year’s Fulbright Scholarship “top producers.” Top-producing institutions in all Carnegie Classifications were highlighted in the October 24th digital edition of The Chronicle of Higher Education.

The Foundation acknowledges the excellent work of our Fulbright Student Program Adviser, David Shein, and our Fulbright Scholar Program Campus Representative, Sue Elvin-Cooper, for their strong contributions to the program’s success at Bard. I would also like to acknowledge the work of the faculty members of the Fellowships and Awards Committee–Maria Cecire, Ken Haig, Swapan Jain, Peter Laki, Julia Rosenbaum, Kristin Scheible, and Andy Schonebaum–who work with David in selecting and preparing our students for these kinds of prestigious fellowships and awards.

In sharing this news with President Botstein, Fulbright’s president, Allan Goodman, underscores our collective appreciation for the Fulbright Program’s contributions to leadership development across academia, government, commerce, health, science and the arts and to the promotion of peace and stability in our world.
