What Washington Needs
Call Date: December 2, 2009
Congressman Ed Markey's Staffers , D-Mass.
Bard CEP was very pleased to have two senior staff members of the House Special Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming, chaired by the Hon. Ed Markey (D-MA), co-author of the landmark House climate legislation join us for the National Climate Seminar. Listen below to the NCS call with Michael Goo (Majority Council) and Jeff Sharp (Senior Communication Advisor) .
Goo and Sharp, fresh from a committee science briefing with Obama Science Advisor Holdren and NOAA Director Lubchenco, (watch it live here) discussed the road to Copenhagen, and beyond. They answer questions such as, what are the politics of possible Senate action, in the face of a persistently weak economy? Will Obama need to take a leadership role? Assuming the votes are there, will Waxman-Markey be the basis for Senate architecture? How will the Senate strengthen or weaken the House Bill? When is it likely to come up for a vote?
Listen to the NCS call with Markey's staffers, Goo and Sharp, as they discuss Washington's role in climate negotiations.
