Description: The Regional Manager leads and manages the CYES program in 4-6 partner cities across the East Bay, Marin, and Sonoma counties. Responsibilities include program planning, program implementation, and program management. This position directly supervises a full-time Regional Outreach Manager (ROM). In addition to managing the ROM year-round, the Regional Manager also directly supervises 8-12 seasonal managers, and indirectly supervises 36-54 youth. This position is based in Berkeley; however, there is regular travel to cities in his/her region.
The Regional Manager reports to the Director of Youth Programs, is accountable for the success of the CYES program in his/her region, and with the entire CYES team, is responsible for overall success of the program. We are looking for individuals with strong experience managing people and programs, who can work both autonomously and as part of a team. Leadership, organization, and adaptability are key skills for this position.
Experience working with young adults (15-22) and a passion for the environment is strongly preferred. This is a full-time, exempt position. Salary is commensurate with experience; full benefits package offered.
Program Planning Within Your Regionl Lead and oversee the planning of and preparation for the CYES program, including but not limited to:
o Act as primary point-of-contact for partner organizations (municipalities, utilities, etc.)
o Recruit, interview, and hire 40+ local youth for the summer program
o Work with city contacts to secure site office locations for each of your CYES sites
o Recruit, interview, and hire 10+ summer managers

Co-lead a 1.5 week long CYES training for summer managers; Facilitate weekly summer manager meetings; While program is in operation visit sites multiple times a week to troubleshoot, problem-solve, manage, and provide support; Provide direction on and resolve any summer staff issues; Monitor data collection and inventory tracking, performing quality control audits at site offices; Complete end-of-program invoicing and reporting for cities, utilities, and municipalities

Position Title: IEC District Intern
Location: The incumbent will work part-time at the Interstate Environmental Commission Laboratory, College of Staten Island, Staten Island, New York and at various field locations throughout the Tri-State area.

Description: The New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission serves as a forum for interstate communication and coordination on water related pollution control efforts among all the New England States and New York State.
In May 2012, NEIWPCC entered into an agreement with the IEC District to assist their three compact members (NY, NJ, and CT) in meeting their most pressing water resource, quality, and wastewater treatment concerns, both within and across state boundaries. NEIWPCC is working with the IEC District in meeting their diverse needs by providing fiduciary responsibility, staff and technical assistance, analysis and support for a broad array of water resource areas.
- Assist staff to support IEC’s inspection program related to municipal discharges, industrial discharges, pump stations, and dry-weather CSO and MS4 discharges, including:
o Assist with pre-inspection tasks, including equipment calibration and maintenance, sterilization and preparation of bottles, coolers and sampling equipment.
o Assist with inspections at wastewater treatment plants and other industrial/municipal facilities, pump stations, and ORI sites, including sampling and analysis in the field as scheduled by Senior Manager.

Description: The National Caucus of Environmental Legislators is an independent 501 (c)(3) organization founded by state legislators as a resource for state legislatures. The Caucus was organized in 1996 for the purpose of providing environmentally progressive legislators with an opportunity to coordinate their activities with respect to national legislative organizations, and to share ideas both on affirmative and negative environmental issues.
NCEL is seeking a Program Intern for the winter of 2015 to assist our effort working with environmentally minded state legislators. Each year, NCEL works with legislators across the country to protect our air, water and open spaces. We support Caucus participants by providing them with the most up-to-date science on issues, sample legislation that Caucus participants have introduced in other states to address environmental problems and by hosting a national issues forum for our membership each year.
Responsibilities: The Program Intern will work directly with the Executive Director to provide support to our members across the country. Responsibilities will include:
– Tracking and researching pro- and anti-environmental legislation in the states to provide members with support for their priorities;
– Preparing regular email issue alerts about the most urgent environmental topics impacting state legislatures;
– Helping identify topics and potential speakers for the summer National Issues Forum;
– Assisting staff with logistics in planning the forum and events across the country;
– Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Successful candidates for this position should be interested in environmental policy and legislation and have strong written and verbal communication skills. The ability to interpret legislative language and break down complex issues is needed. Candidates will work closely with the Executive Director, but should be self-starters.

Organization: Ecologic Institute
Position Title: Ecologic Transatlantic Internship

Description: Enrolled students from the US and Canada are invited to apply for a position as a Transatlantic Intern at Ecologic Institute. Each year, Ecologic Institute brings young people interested in environmental policy to its headquarters in Berlin to be part of its international environmental research and consulting program.
Interns are integrated into Ecologic’s policy research and office routines, providing them real-world experience in an academic environment. The intern’s work will depend on his or her particular interests, skills, and experience as well as on current projects at Ecologic Institute. Interns also have the opportunity to participate in events and conferences hosted by various organizations in Berlin’s transatlantic community, enabling them to gain a broader understanding of important policy issues.
Applicants should generally have at least a bachelor’s degree. Students may wish to pursue an internship at Ecologic Institute in tandem with a graduate degree program (in public policy, international relations, environmental studies, law or other relevant disciplines). Start and end dates are flexible; generally, internships last six to twelve months. The Soil and Water Conservation Society is seeking oral and poster presentations and symposia proposals for the 70th International Annual Conference, taking place in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Each year SWCS identifies topics or a theme for special attention at the Annual Conference. The overarching theme for the conference this year is Coming Home to Conservation: Putting Science into Practice.
The 70th Annual Soil and Water Conservation Society (SWCS) Conference will provide a forum to celebrate past conservation accomplishments as well as share and promote science-based knowledge on critical, current issues facing soil, water, and environmental sustainability.
Accepting submissions. Submissions are being accepted for the General Conference Sessions, which include eight traditional topic areas and two special areas of focus. Oral and poster presentations submitted within these topics should cater toward the conference theme.
Alternately, there are two competitive call for symposia topic areas. Submitting to one of these symposia will also require participation in an extended Q&A or panel as part of the symposium. Due to scheduling constraints, a limited number of symposia and workshops will be accepted.
Organization: Loewy-Mohonk Preserve
Position Title: Loewy-Mohonk Preserve Liaison Fellowship
Location: New Paltz, New York

Description: The Mohonk Preserve will award fellowships for 2015 to conduct research projects related to priorities of the Preserve’s Land Management Plan. A total of $10,000 is available for 2015 Loewy-Mohonk Preserve Fellowships, made possible through funding from the Loewy Family Foundation. Faculty and graduate students are eligible to apply. Housing is available on-site.
Proposals will be evaluated in terms of their contribution to land management planning at the Mohonk Preserve and the use of the Mohonk Preserve as a research site. A committee of Conservation Science staff and members of the Conservation Science Committee will review the proposals and make recommendations. Successful applicants will become Research Associates of the Mohonk Preserve.
Awards will be announced on January 31, 2015.
Responsibilities: A written progress report must be submitted half-way through the funding period and a written final report, at the end of the funding period. The stipend will be made in three payouts:
- at the start of the funding period
- at submission of the half-way progress report
- at the submission and acceptance of the final report.
Any publications resulting from this project must acknowledge support by the Mohonk Preserve and the Loewy Family Foundation. Original data and copies of any publications should be submitted to the Mohonk Preserve.

Responsibilities: The Urban Program Director will lead the implementation of the Center for Whole Communities’ urban leadership development program. Description: Reporting to the Executive Vice President, American Tree Farm System, Woodlands, and Policy, the Director, Communications and Policy leads the development and execution of a vibrant and effective, multi-channel communications strategy to assist AFF’s Woodland Team in accomplishing its priorities, focused on targeted external audiences, and evaluates its impact on such audiences. He or she is responsible for identifying and marketing the value of the brands of AFF, focusing on AFF’s woodland-related programs including the American Tree Farm System to engage external audiences in Foundation activities and priorities.
The Director also facilitates effective relationships with targeted media contacts to advance the Foundation’s woodland-related priorities and provides ongoing professional communications support to AFF’s Woodland programs, when aimed at external audiences. In addition, he or she serves as the main liaison with public relations agencies and supervises/evaluates their performance.
On the policy side, the Director develops and implements political strategies, in collaboration with the Executive Vice President and the Senior Policy Manager, on a set of assigned woodland policy issues, to accomplish the organization’s public policy goals, using multiple channels including direct lobbying, “grassroots” advocacy, and strategic “grasstops” leadership development. This also includes establishingand maintaining a presence on Capitol Hill, building relationships with key congressional officials and committee staff, and with federal agencies, relevant to assigned policy issues.
Finally, the Director works with Development and Program staff to create and implement a communications strategy with sufficient brand power to attract new revenue from targeted funders and donors.

This is a full time position. Title could be ‘U.S. Policy Campaigner,’ or ‘U.S. Policy Manager,’ depending on experience.
Responsibilities: In this position you would report to and work with 350.org’s U.S. Policy Director to help craft and implement political plans for our leading campaigns, from Keystone XL to fossil fuel divestment, to fracking. We’re looking for someone who can ghostwrite a divestment floor speech for a Senator, write a campaign plan for defeating a bad fracking bill in congress, and generally help maximize the political impact of 350.org’s U.S. campaigns.
This is a fast-paced environment and you’re going to be covering a lot of issues. You’ll be interfacing with all the tools in our toolbox: big grassroots actions, digital campaigns, media strategies, lobbying, electoral campaigning, and sometimes civil disobedience.
