Organization Overview

Institute for Environmental Research and Volunteering (ERAVI-Volunteering) is a non-profit organization registered under Texas secretary of state, dedicated to improve sustainable environment through integrating social, environment and economic aspects which are intertwined to the overall development. Besides, we support the most underprivileged, marginalized and conflict affected children for their education and health issues to ensure for their quality of life. Our small contribution will lead them in a better path in their future.

Description

ERAVI Volunteering offers summer internship 2012 on multidisciplinary subjects starting on mid June for 5-8 weeks.This year, our focus will be in Nepal at reduced cost because most of undergraduate students are wiling to know more about culture, and people livelihood in hills and mountain region where you can see the impact of both post conflict and climate change at the same time. We have developed a well-structured package for Summer 2012 in the following areas:

  • Bio-cultural Conservation/Enthnobiology
  • Community Awareness & Development
  • Environmental Studies
  • Health and Education
  • Internship Opportunity at NGOs
  • Mountain Environment & Climate Change
  • Post Conflict Studies
  • Orphanage

Responsibilities

Work in a KUMAL village:

To train them to plant vegetables such as spinach, cabbage, cauliflower, tomatoes, potatoes, cucumber, chilly and fruits such as papaya.
To make them aware of health and sanitation.
To educate their children.
Finally, to empower this extreme marginalized community and minimize dependence
