Overview

Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution, is seeking an Assistant Director for the Civil Liberties and Public Policy (CLPP) program, a national project that equips and inspires new generations of leaders through campus-based education, real-world advocacy practice, and the skills to build a stronger, more diverse movement for reproductive freedom and social change.

Description

Reporting to CLPP’s Director of Operations and Finance, the Assistant Director will help advance CLPP’s mission through active management and oversight of two major projects: the annual activist conference; and student and campus-based programming. The Assistant Director will work collaboratively with student leaders, staff, faculty, and college departments to implement and evaluate project work, and represent CLPP at the College and in national venues.

Qualifications

The Assistant Director will be expected to work collaboratively; prioritize multiple, competing demands, and problem-solve independently with minimal supervision.  A commitment to CLPP’s mission is essential.  A Bachelor’s degree is preferred; a minimum of two years of relevant experience is required.  Qualified candidates should have extensive project management experience; familiarity with reproductive rights and social justice issues; experience working with diverse communities, including people with different racial, ethnic and class backgrounds, and people of different genders.  Previous supervisory experience, and experience working as a mentor to emerging activists or students is preferred.  Candidates must have technology skills and experience in website and social media tools; be computer proficient (Word, Excel, and web-based software); and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. This position requires occasional evenings and weekends.
