Futurewise works throughout Washington State to create healthy livable communities, protect our working farmlands, forests, and waterways, and ensure a better quality of life for present and future generations. We work with communities to adopt wise land use planning and policies that prevent waste and stop sprawl, provide efficient transportation choices, create affordable housing and strong local businesses, and ensure healthy natural systems. We work to protect our valuable shorelines and the vital habitat for wildlife and fish throughout our watersheds. We are creating a better quality of life in Washington State together.
We are seeking a student intern to support our outreach efforts for our shoreline programs. The outreach assistant will play a crucial role in educating the public about current policy issues and help them understand what they can do to protect our shorelines. We seek a highly motivated and outgoing person to be able to reach our ambitious outreach goals.
This is an unpaid volunteer position or an ideal internship for a college student seeking class credit for hands-on work experience. Futurewise provides its interns a supportive, flexible work environment with opportunity to develop professional skills and make an impact!
The outreach assistant will collaborate with the community education and policy team to implement the outreach strategy for our Shoreline Master Plan Improvement project and coordinate selected events. This includes researching potential community outreach opportunities and attending local events, fairs, and festivals to engage existing and recruit new activists, members and volunteers. Additionally, you will collaborate with the community education team to implement an exciting community based social marketing project. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to get experience on a hands-on community outreach project.
