Presidential Management Fellows Program

Organization: Presidential Management Fellows Program

Position Title: Presidential Management Fellow

Location: Various

 Application Deadline: October 15, 2014

Description: The PMF Program (one of three programs that make up the federal government’s Pathways Program) is the federal government’s flagship leadership development program designed to attract entry-level advanced (graduate level) degree candidates into federal government agencies in management and policy-oriented positions.

The Program attracts and selects candidates from all graduate disciplines – not simply law students/graduates – and is designed with a specific focus – developing potential government leaders in a wide range of fields.  Traditional attorney positions are not offered through the PMF program (hiring for entry level attorney positions continues to take place primarily through agency specific post-graduate attorney honors programs/fellowships  – we send those deadlines around regularly – and experience attorney positions are posted on USAjobs.gov), however, law graduates interested in federal government management, public policy, and other related alternative legal positions are welcome to, and often do, apply to the PMF program.

You are eligible to apply to the PMF Class of 2015 Program if you will meet your Pace Law School or another school’s graduate degree requirements during the academic year September 1, 2014 to August 31, 2015, or if you obtained your advance degree from a qualifying college or university no more than 2 years prior to the opening date of the announcement for the Class of 2015 application – expected to be on October 1.  (This is only the third year that this program has been open to recent graduates.)

A one-time Applicant Information Session that will focus on a general overview of the PMF Program, the 2015 PMF application, and a panel of current Fellows offering their advice and experiences will take place on September 30.  VISIT www.pmf.gov for more information.

How to Apply: The PMF Program application process is a unique and  multi-phase process, beginning with the open online application period which includes an online application and untimed, unproctored online assessment and, if you are then selected as a Semi-Finalist, a live assessment.   Finalists, named after the live assessment, then have 12 months of access to exclusive specific agency PMF position postings and apply to and interview directly with those agencies.  Applicants no longer need to be nominated by their graduate school and apply solely through this online process.

The PMF Class of 2015 online application period is expected to open on Wednesday, October 1 and close on Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at 11:59pm Eastern Time.  The entire initial application process, including submission of all necessary documents and the online assessment (which includes multiple choice and 3 brief essays), must be completed during this time period.  Applicants will have two ways to find the application.  At USAJOBS simply search “Presidential Management Fellows,” or go to the PMF website and select the link found under the Application Process/How to Apply webpage.  Once the Class of 2015 PMF Application is finalized, additional information, and an online assessment guide, will be available on the website.
