Description: For the past two decades, Pew has been a major force in educating the public and policy makers about the causes, consequences and solutions to some of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges. Our work is focused on reducing the scope and severity of three major global environmental problems:

Dramatic changes to the Earth’s climate brought about by the increasing concentration of greenhouse gases in the planet’s atmosphere; The erosion of large terrestrial wilderness ecosystems that contain a great part of the world’s remaining biodiversity; and, The destruction of the world’s marine environment.

Reporting to the senior officer and executive advisor, this position will support the implementation of a broad array of work critical to the ongoing success of the environment department. Working as part of a team directly supporting the executive vice president, the individual in this role will help to meet key deliverables that advance the department and institutional agenda and the mission of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a broad knowledge of issues related to the portfolio and strategic goals of the environment group.
    ·  Draft, review and edit letters and reports, including web-based materials.
    ·  Prepare materials as needed to support internal and external meetings.
    ·  Help organize events, donor trips, speaking engagements, meetings and workshops.
  • Monitor trends, external developments and news related to the work of the environment group and prepare succinct daily summaries.
  • Develop briefings and background papers; contribute to the development of reports, articles or other materials as needed.
  • Undertake research as needed to ensure the highest standard of information is available to the executive office of the environment group and the broader environment program.
  • Help to implement systems designed to ensure the smooth functioning of the environment group’s executive office.
  • Provide support to ensure the successful execution of special projects.
  • Support effective communication and interface with other departments through timely response to requests and preparation of information to meet deadlines.
  • Other tasks, as assigned.
