Annually, Covanta’s modern Energy-from-Waste facilities safely and securely convert approximately 20 million tons of waste into 9 million megawatt hours of clean renewable electricity and almost 9 billion pounds of steam that are sold to a variety of industries. Covanta’s facilities also recover 400,000 tons of metal per year for recycling.
Responsibilities: Responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, implementing and maintaining environmental management systems and programs at the Covanta Warren Energy Resource Co. facility in Oxford, NJ. Compliance programs include air quality, solid waste and water regulations/permits. Participating in and auditing of facility programs preparing and managing various submittals to regulatory agencies, and overseeing other environmental activities related to compliance. Interact with state and federal environmental agency personnel. Some infrequent travel will be required.
Qualifications: Bachelors degree in engineering, environmental science, or equivalent and a minimum or 3-5 years experience in the environmental field; preferably the air or solid waste field. A working knowledge of NJ and federal environmental regulations in air, waste and water desired. HAXWOPER trained is a plus. Must have strong written and oral communications skills and demonstrate ability to work creatively within the regulatory framework. Strong computer skills are needed.
