Description: The Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN) is the first grassroots, nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to fighting global warming in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Our mission is to build and mobilize a powerful grassroots movement and use our proximity to the nation’s capital to push for state, national and international policies that will put us on a path to climate stability.

CCAN is looking to immediately hire a federal legislative coordinator/lobbyist. Candidate should have 3-5 years experience doing legislative work at the state or federal level. Candidate will work by contract for approximately 30 hours per week in support of specific, CCAN-supported clean energy legislation on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. CCAN is offering a six-month contract with the prospect of renewal and possibility of a permanent staff position.

This position requires:

– development of legislative strategy
– meetings with legislators and their staff
– development of fact sheets
– media outreach
– grassroots involvement
– ability to work well in a team setting

Direct grassroots organizing experience is a plus.
