Bard College held its one hundred forty-sixth commencement on Saturday, May 20, 2006. At the commencement ceremony, Bard President Leon Botstein conferred 327 undergraduate degrees to the Class of 2006 and 105 graduate degrees in the following disciplines: masters of fine arts; masters of arts in the history of the decorative arts, design, and culture; masters of arts in curatorial studies; masters of science in environmental policy; and masters of science in environmental studies. The program began at 2:30 p.m. in the commencement tent on the Seth Goldfine Memorial Field and included the presentation of honorary doctoral degrees.

The commencement address was given by Bryan A. Stevenson, the founder and executive director of the Equal Justice Initiative of Alabama (EJI), and professor of clinical law at New York University School of Law.
