Exclusive Tour of China in June 2012

In the 2012 tour of Greater China for patrons, joined by Leon Botstein, The Bard College Conservatory of Music Orchestra, and faculty, made an extraordinary tour that included multiple concerts and events in many of China’s leading cities. Patrons experienced the great sights and cultural richness of China under the guidance of Bard’s expert faculty and local guides.

The 14-day tour from June 11 to June 25, 2012 consisted of:

  • Five tour cities: Shanghai, Beijing, Qingdao, Xi-an, Guangzhou
  • Private guided tours to local attractions with exclusive access to galleries, historic sites, and activities
    in each city
  • Airport transfers to and from hotels, including luggage fees and tips, beginning with tour start on June 12
  • Private guided side trips to the Great Wall, Suzhou, Mount Laoshan, and Terra Cotta Warriors site in Xi-an
  • Deluxe double-room accommodations, including breakfast, in five-star hotels (single-room supplement available)
  • Seven group lunches and five group dinners at specially selected restaurants, including welcome dinner and farewell banquet with Conservatory students and faculty
  • Orchestra and chamber music concerts with guest artists at major performing arts centers
  • A mini–Bard Music Festival in Shanghai, "Tchaikovsky and His World," with a panel discussion and preconcert talks
  • Receptions with American and Chinese government officials
  • Economy-class domestic flights and first-class train travel in China
