Katherine Cherbas

Cellist Katherine Cherbas has performed solo and chamber music recitals throughout the United States and has received particular acclaim for her performances of contemporary and baroque music. She has performed at all of New York's major concert halls and has been heard on WNYC and BBC3 radio and the NBC, PBS, and Bravo television networks. As a music educator, Ms. Cherbas has coached cellists and chamber musicians privately and at Point CounterPoint Chamber Music Camp, the Manhattan School of Music Summer Camp, and several NYC-area music schools. Since 1997, she has also served as a Teaching Artist in the New York City public schools, where she has developed and led workshops for elementary-school and middle-school classes that seek to engage students as active listeners of classical music. Ms. Cherbas holds a B.A. from Columbia University, an M.M. from The Juilliard School, and a D.M.A. from SUNY at Stony Brook; her principal cello studies have been with Joel Krosnick and Timothy Eddy.
