Application Instructions

A completed application will contain:

1. A detailed repertoire list of works studied. (Please asterisk those works you have performed.)

2. Three letters of recommendation.
  • The Graduate Conducting Program accepts letters of recommendation through the online application. When prompted, enter the recommender’s name and e-mail. The recommender will receive an e-mail that details how to submit the recommendation online.
  • Letters of recommendation are also accepted on paper, on official forms. The letters should be addressed to Graduate Admission and sent to:

3. A prescreening video that is 15–20 minutes in length containing a rehearsal and performance of two works in contrasting styles. (Applications lacking any rehearsal footage will not be considered.)
File Sizes and Types: Although Slate technically supports media files as large as 2 GB, please be advised that larger files will take longer to upload from your Internet connection and may stall if you are on a wireless connection or one that cannot sustain a connection for the necessary period of time. Slate support the following video file formats: Video: .avi, .flv, .m1v, .m2v, .m4v, .mkv, .mov, .mpeg, .mpg, .mp4, .wmv
 
4. A 1–2 page statement discussing your work as a conductor and your artistic goals in a personal as well as critical context.

5. A résumé
Please be sure to include:
- a list of current and previous conducting instructors
- instrumental skills
- language skill
6. Official transcripts from all postsecondary institutions attended should be sent to:

Please note: Copies are considered official only if they are sent directly to the Conservatory from the issuing institution. Unofficial transcript copies sent by the applicant will not be accepted. Transcripts may be emailed directly from the issuing institution to conservatoryadmission@bard.edu.
6. A nonrefundable application fee of $75.00.
