Tuition

The Preparatory Program’s mission is to offer well-rounded music education for each child.  To ensure an enriching and comprehensive learning experience, lessons are matched with a class in musicianship. Below are the available options for your consideration. Early Childhood Music Program

  • Music and Movement for Infants & Toddlers for Ages 1-2: $170
    (8 weeks per semester: 45 minute classes)
    9:00AM to 9:45AM     (with caregiver)
 
  • Music & Movement I for Ages 3-4$175
    (15 weeks per semester: 30 minute classes) 
    9:45AM to 10:30AM     (Drop-off class)   
 
  • Children's Chorus for Ages 4-6: $175
    (15 weeks per semester: 30 minute classes) 
    10:30AM to 11:00AM
         (Drop-off class)   
  
  • Music and Movement II for Ages 5-6*: $405
    (15 weeks per semester: 60 minute classes)
    11:00AM to 12:00PM      (Drop-off class)    
 
  • Music & Movement II AND Chorus:  $555      (Drop-off class)

Please note:  Some four year olds may qualify for private or group lessons. Contact the directors for more information.

* 4-6 year old Music and Movement can be taken as the musicianship requirement for the Full Program.

Full Program (ages 5 to 18)

Classes below include private lessons of varying lengths and a 60-minute musicianship* class.
  • 30-min. lesson and musicianship class: $1,180
  • 45-min. lesson and musicianship class: $1,555
  • 60-min. lesson and musicianship class: $1,930
* Music and Movement will substitute as Musicianship classes for students ages 4 to 6

The Prep Program does not offer private lessons separate from the FULL PROGRAM.

Optional Classes

The following optional classes can be taken without enrolling in the division lesson and musicianship class:
  • Children's Chorus for Ages 4-6: $175
    30 min: 10:30AM to 11:00AM
  • Senior Chorus for Ages 7-9: $175
    12:00PM to 12:30PM
  • Musicianship Class: $405
    60-minute  (various levels)
  • RHYTHM TRAINING AND DRUMMING CLASS:  $175
    30-minute  (various levels)
  • Junior Class (Ages 8-10)
  • Senior Class (Ages 11 and up)
  • Instructor:  David Degge, percussion faculty

ENSEMBLES
  • VOCAL ENSEMBLE$210 ($175 for Full Program Prep Students)
    30-minute   (various levels/class times)
  • JAZZ/IMPROVISATION ENSEMBLE$300 ($225 for Full Program Prep Students)
    60-minute   meets 1:00-2:00PM
 
  • CHAMBER MUSIC (must be approved by faculty)

  • SECONDARY INSTRUMENTS 
    for FULL PROGRAM students ONLY

Secondary Instrument tuition is a discounted rate available only for students enrolled in the FULL PROGRAM.
The Prep Program does not offer private lessons separate from the FULL PROGRAM.

Withdrawal and Refund Policy

Students may withdraw from the Preparatory Program or individual classes at any time. Tuition refunds will be given at the following rates:
• Before the 1st Day of Classes: 100% Tuition Refund (minus the application fee and tuition deposit*)
• After the 1st Day of Classes: 90%
• After the 2nd Day of Classes: 80%
• After the 3rd Day of Classes: 70%
• After the 4th Day of Classes: No Refund Given

Withdrawal from individual classes and/or secondary lessons will also be refunded at the percentage rates listed above.

*Please Note: Application Fee and Tuition Deposit are not Refundable at any time of withdrawal.
If you wish to withdraw, you must notify the Bard Preparatory Division directors by email at bardprep@bard.edu. The effective date of withdrawal is the date of withdrawal is the date that the written notice is received, not the last day of class or private lesson. Students receiving financial aid forfeit their aid upon withdrawal.
