Core Seminar

The Core Seminar,  which meets for three hours each week, focuses on topics that address different aspects of the singing life: poetry and text, international musical influences, and opera. Sample units covered in Core Seminar have included:

  • Dickinson, Goethe, and Verlaine
  • Singing and Song in the Global Era
  • Creating Unique Performance Opportunities
  • The Singer and the Stage

In this course students delve into an intensive study of a diverse repertory under the guidance of artistic director Dawn Upshaw, associate director Kayo Iwama, and guest artist teachers.
