Matthew Morris

Baritone Matthew Morris has made definitive appearances throughout the world in his young career. Since graduating from the Juilliard School he has performed with the Santa Fe Opera, the New York Festival of Song, and made his Carnegie Hall debut singing in the “Berlin Festival of Lights.”

Mr. Morris has proven himself the choice of many modern American composers to premiere their works. He premiered the role of Jonathan in a PBS broadcast new opera, The Outlaw and the King by Mark Zuckerman. Mr. Morris has also premiered the role of John in Back in the Day a new musical by Jonathan Larson award winning composer Lance Horne at the Cape Rep Theater. The Cape Times said, “Matthew Morris’ voice is so beautiful that you are left wanting to hear more from him.” Additionally, Mr. Morris sang the role of George in the Western U.S. premiere of Our Town by Ned Rorem at the Aspen Opera Theater under the baton of David Zinman. The Aspen Times wrote, “George Gibbs [was] winningly sung by Matthew Morris.”

In the summer of 2009, Mr. Morris was a member of the Apprentice Singer Program, The Santa Fe Opera, 2009 where he sang the role of Apollo in Alceste.

Mr. Morris has appeared on Law & Order and in the major motion picture, The Producers! He holds a B.M. in voice from The Juilliard School.
