Welcome to CSLA

Support · Advise · Engage · Challenge

The Center for Student Life & Advising (CSLA) at Bard College is committed to supporting students in their academic and extracurricular endeavors. We provide academic and personal advice as well as mentorship to students throughout their time at the College. CSLA comprises the offices of the Dean of Student Affairs, the Dean of Studies, and Spiritual Life.

Academic Life and Advising

The Dean of Studies Office (DOS) supports students in their academic programs of study by providing supplemental advising to all students, fostering collaborative inquiry outside of the classroom, and helping students to develop the skills and strategies required for robust engagement in the academic life of the College. We facilitate the application process for competitive fellowships and scholarships and help students find and meet academic and intellectual challenges outside the regular curriculum.

Student Affairs

The Dean of Student Affairs Office (DOSA) seeks to enhance the value of the undergraduate experience by encouraging students to participate actively in the community, be concerned about their peers, and explore personal matters that affect their individual pursuits and the community.

Spiritual Life

The chaplaincy at Bard College is committed to helping students, staff, and faculty explore and develop their spiritual identities or provide opportunities to experience different religious traditions. Our staff currently includes an Episcopal priest, a rabbi, and a Buddhist associate chaplain. All chaplains are available for pastoral care, counseling and support. Weekly services are held throughout the academic year in the Chapel of the Holy Innocents and in the Center for Spiritual Life (Resnick A). Additionally, the chaplaincy can direct students to other religious resources in the area.
