Faculty – Spanish Language and CultureBard High School Early College (BHSEC) Newark, a partnership between Bard College and the Newark Public Schools in Newark, NJ, invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Spanish Language and Culture, beginning September 2018. Candidates must be able to teach Spanish language at all levels; this forms the core teaching duties of this position. Ability to teach Spanish and Latin American literature or culture in English is desirable; such courses may periodically be taught.
BHSEC, a national model of public school reform, enables talented and highly motivated students to complete a high school diploma and an Associate of Arts degree from Bard College within four years of study. The academic program emphasizes small classes and a commitment to teaching a diverse student body.
The successful applicant for this position must be committed to teaching classes at both the high school and college levels. In addition, candidates will be expected to participate fully in the life of the school, including student advising, club advising, and committee service. Ph.D. and college teaching experience required; high school teaching experience and/or experience working with youth desirable. Work authorization in the United States required for all BHSEC Newark faculty positions.
