Literature, 2 graduate-level courses - Part Time, Visiting Faculty
Bard College is seeking a part-time faculty member to teach two graduate-level literature courses: LI 512: Major Authors and LI 545: Literature and Place: Literature of California for its Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program in Los Angeles and Tulare, California. The Bard MAT Program is committed to rigorous graduate training in mathematics, biology, history, and English; the integration of reading and writing in all content areas; intense involvement in the high school classroom; partnerships for educational change with participant schools; and a re-conceptualized education curriculum.
LI 512: Major Authors is offered in the fall quarter, which begins September 9, 2013, and ends November 22, 2013. This course focuses on texts and scholarship around one major author, of the faculty member’s choosing in consultation with the Program Director and Literature faculty colleagues. LI 545: Literature and Place: Literature of California is offered in the summer quarter, which begins May 26, 2014, and ends July 18, 2014.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in literature. Previous experience as a public school teacher is desirable. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
