Bard College

Language & Thinking Faculty

Language and Thinking is an intensive introduction to the liberal arts and sciences with a particular focus on writing, attended by all incoming students during the last three weeks of August. Successful candidates for faculty positions come from many fields, including the humanities; the social, formal, and natural sciences; and the arts.

Applicants should have a strong interest in general education at the undergraduate level, a commitment to writing as one of the cornerstones of the liberal arts, and an active interest in interdisciplinary research and collaboration. Demonstrated success as a teacher is essential. New faculty responsibilities include participation in two weekend meetings (6-8 June and 8-10 August), a one-week training session (7-11 July), and intensive full-time teaching during the program (11-28 August).

We will begin accepting applications for the 2014 Language & Thinking Program on 6 January, 2014. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis after that date. We will give preference, however, to applications received by February 15th.

To apply to teach in the 2014 Language and Thinking Program, please send all application materials via Interfolio by Committee:http://apply.interfolio.com/24248
