Biography:BA, Wesleyan University; MA, M.Phil., PhD, Yale University. Professor Kavett also spent two years as "pensionnaire étranger" at the École Normale Supérieure (Paris), where he had the opportunity to participate in the activities of the unité de recherche Paul-Celan. Additional studies in Regensburg and Konstanz. His research and teaching interests include the German Baroque and 20th-century German literature, with a particular focus on Paul Celan’s poetry and correspondence. His research and teaching interests also include comparative literary studies and translation studies. His most recent work, a book chapter entitled “A Secret Echo Outside of Time: Paul Celan and the Autumn Crocus,” is forthcoming in Transparent Texts: Self-Referentiality and Self-Reflexivity in Literature (eds. Florian Lippert and Marcel Schmid, Brill/Rodopi). At Bard since 2017.
