Sofia Pia Belenky
Visiting Instructor in Architectural Studies
Biography:Sophia Pia Belenky has worked as an architect and researcher at Space Caviar, a studio founded in 2013 in Genoa, Italy. She collaborated with British architect, critic, and curator Joseph Grima on projects that investigate the intersection of architecture, politics, technology, and the public realm. Space Caviar works have been shown at the Venice Biennale, Victoria and Albert Museum, Munich Film Museum, and Vitra Design Museum, among others. As an intern at DGT Architects, a Paris-based partnership, she worked on various projects, ranging in scale from furniture to the city, including a tower in the Shibuya area of Toyko. She also served as an intern at Christian Wassermann Architecture Studio, where she assisted in large-scale installation construction, model fabrication, renderings, and client consultations. was the founding editor of DUE, a weekly publications exploring urgent contemporary projects (2016–19); studio manager for sculptor Gedi Sibony; and assistant to sculptor Julianne Swartz. She previously taught a course in architectural history at the Architectural Association in London and led a workshop at Moscow’s Strelka Institute, where she served as a researcher as part of the program The New Normal.
