Study Abroad/Study Away
For Bard Students
To learn more about opportunities for study abroad programs, students are encouraged to meet with their academic advisers, the study abroad adviser Katrina Helz (845-640-2153), and advisers at the Institute for International Liberal Education.
Bard offers its students a number of opportunities to engage in international dialogue. Nearly 50% of Bard students participate in at least one global or international program during their time at Bard. Some spend a year, a term, or a summer studying abroad. Others spend time abroad participating in internships or working on community service projects. Students are attracted by the immense personal rewards of living in a different culture and improving their foreign language skills. Many students combine Bard programs, taking intensive language courses, studying abroad, participating in internships with leading international organizations, and performing community service overseas. These experiences are integral to their education and often serve as the focal point of their Bard academic experience. Moreover, they can enrich, perhaps even change, a student’s life.
Bard study abroad programs attract students from leading American colleges and universities. In the past five years, students from over 100 institutions have studied in Bard programs.
