Conversation with Maria Lind

Maria Lind is currently director of the International Artist Studio Program in Stockholm, where she has organized exhibitions with Andrea Guyer, Ibon Aranberri, Tommy Stöckel, and Saskia Holmkvist and co-curated a series of symposia, including “Taking the Matter into Common Hands: On Collaborative Practices in Contemporary Art,” “Citizenship: Changing Conditions,” and “Why Archives?”. Previously, she was director at the Munich Kunstverein (2002-2004) and curator at Moderna Museet in Stockholm (1997-2001). She founded the independent art platform, Salon 3 (London, 1998-2000), with Rebecca Gordon Nesbit and Hans Ulrich Obrist; and she was co-curator of Manifesta 2 in Luxembourg (1998). Her publications include numerous exhibition catalogue essays, Fresh Cream (2000), and Taking the Matter into Common Hands: Collaborative Practices in Contemporary Art (forthcoming). Maria Lind took her masters degree in art history and Russian at the University of Stockholm and attended the Whitney Independent Studies Program.
