Spatial Practices with Eyal Weizman and Tom Keenan: "Conflicts as Spactial Practices"

SPATIAL PRACTICES lectures explore a variety of practices which take space and power as their starting point. Here artists, architects, urbanists and other cultural producers employ various forms of spatial practices to address how the designed
Eyal Weizman is an architect, writer and curator based in London. Previously a professor of architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, he is now the director of Goldsmiths College’s Centre of Research Architecture. He set up his private practice with Ragi Segal in 1999. Their projects included the rebuilding of the Ashdod Museum of Art (opened in June 2003), a stage-set for Itim Theatre Company (premiered at the Lincoln Center in July 2003), a runner-up proposal for the Tel Aviv Museum competition and other projects. Together with the human-rights organizations B’tselem, Weizman initiated a report on violations of humans rights and international humanitarian law through the use of architecture and planned titled “Land Grab.” Tom Keenan is Director of the Bard Human Rights Project as well as an Associate Professor of Comparative Literature in the Bard undergraduate program.
