Speakers Series - Barbara Clausen : On Curating Performance

Performance art´s recent and ongoing popularity, institutionalization, and historicization challenges the representational politics of the live and the mediated within the exhibition context, posing a range of questions for artists and curators a like. How can the historical context of past performances be re-presented within an exhibition? Or, can an exhibition function as a pro-scenium setting and as an installation at the same time? And what does it mean to collect performance art? Are just a few of the many questions that shape the codependent relationship between performance art and the institutional art world.
