Dances at a Gathering by Robbins, and other works by Balanchine and Peck
With all-live music
Peter Martins, Ballet Master in Chief
No choreographer is more associated with Chopin than Jerome Robbins, who set several major works to his music. The centerpiece of this program is Dances at a Gathering, accompanied by 18 of Chopin's mazurkas, waltzes, and études. The piece premiered in 1969 and became an instant classic, hailed for its invention, virtuosity, and constantly shifting emotions. With all-live music
Peter Martins, Ballet Master in Chief
This program traces the choreographic lineage of New York City Ballet, including Balanchine's Duo Concertant, set to Stravinsky, and In Creases, the first work created for the company by the prodigious new talent Justin Peck, with music by Philip Glass. Performed by NYCB MOVES, a select group of New York City Ballet principal dancers, soloists, corps de ballet members, and musicians.
