Marking the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Prayers of the People is a secular liturgical performance of Dr. King’s “Letter from a Birmingham Jail.” This participatory performance, directed by Bill T. Jones, takes the structure of an Episcopal liturgy to bring to life his words, written from jail in response to a joint letter from eight religious leaders urging him to stop disrupting the peace.6:00 pm EDT/GMT-4
