The Office for Gender Equity Film Series proudly presents Pariah (2011), directed by Dee Rees (dir., Mudbound, 2017). Pariah tells the story of a young black woman, named Alike, discovering and embracing her sexuality, much to the dismay of her mother. As Alike experiments with her gender expression, her family pushes back and attempts to interfere in her life choices. Rees’s first full-length feature film tells a beautiful and difficult story that is rarely heard in mainstream film: one that details the struggles of being a queer black woman.7:00 pm – 9:00 pm EST/GMT-5
